Calls us what you will – old school ravers, clubbers, dance music nerds, but whatever you think of us there’s no denying we’re passionate about dance music and old school dance music to be more specific. Whether it’s house, trance, rave, drum and bass, electro, hip hop, indie remixes or any random one off record, as long as it’s good well play it.

Presented by DJ Padraic Marren from Dublin and Englishman Simon Palmer ,the show features recollections and the best old school records from their misspent middle age in clubs across Ireland and UK with favourites played from clubs like The Hacienda, Cream, Quad Park, Shelly’s, Venus, Love 2 Be, Gatecrasher, Renaissance, Fabric, Ministry of Sound and, of course, Ibiza.

When rave scene erupted in the UK you used to hear acid house played alongside Chicago house, hip hop or early trance; it’s this kind of eclectic mix of music we try and recreate on the show. The first half of the show features anything from classic disco, funk, hip hop or rare remixes, whilst the second half winds things up with house classics and trance anthems.

When we can from time-to-time we’ll interview famous names from the dance music scene. We’ve already spoken to legendary house music DJ Mike Pickering and the lovely Rowetta of the Happy Mondays. They’ll be many more to come.

Anything goes on Back2Basics but one thing is non-negotiable – the show is 100% vinyl, played on classic Technics 1210s turntables.
